Before you click, please be sure you are in safe and quiet space where you can do these exercises without being interrupted or disturbed. The idea is to spend as much time as you wish on each drill before going to the next one so take your time, relax, and above all, be kind to yourself. Yoga is extremely helpful in teaching your body how to RELAX!

Humming

Start out quietly and increase the volume as you gain control of the placement. Then try softening with the same intensity and control. A really good exercise for improving sensory awareness of where you are locating the sound.

Using the Vowel Sounds Alternate Vowel

Don't rush! Do the drill with each vowel sound first, and add different consonant sounds as well. Then go back and do each sequence again with a different vowel and consonant sound.

Head Voice

Here is a drill to help you hear and FEEL when you are in your head voice.

Ear Training

Can you hear when you don't hit a note exactly on pitch! Great! That means you're not tone deaf, doesn't it? You just need to practice more on your instrument, that being your human voice! Learning to play the recorder is a wonderful ear-training aid. You may want to pick one up at a Music Store for about $10. OR, you may purchase one from us for $6.85 including Shipping. Check them out HERE to learn more about the benefits of playing this instrument for those who believe they are tone deaf.

Finding the Resonators

Click Below to listen to additional Audio Aid:Nasal Resonator

Closing your eyes and concentrating, you will begin to feel where the sound is located. That's sensory awareness rather than critical judgement. Staying out of your own way overcomes the 7 Deadly Sins!

Stretching the Full Voice

Now, don't be afraid to bang on that door. You cannot hurt your voice by stretching it at the upper range. But don't try to go lower than you can go. While a flute can play as high as a piccolo, a piccolo cannot play as low as a flute.
